NYA surrenders social media for Takeover Day

20 Nov 2014

Takeover Day is coming to the National Youth Agency! On Friday 21 November we will be handing over the reigns of all our social media to our youth work apprentices.  Alex and Craig in London and Will and Nicola in Leicester will be using twitter and facebook to give voice to their opinions, concerns and experiences.A4_I_have_been_taken_over_2014_poster-1-page-001

Will and Nicola will be talking about what it’s like to be an apprentice, what social action can do for young people and why involving young people in your organisation is so important. Alex and Craig, who work on Think Big, will be talking about their pivotal roles in the programme and blogging on what Takeover Day is trying to achieve.

On Takeover Day, the four apprentices will be using the following monikers on their tweets:

  • Nicola   NF
  • Will       WH
  • Alex      AQ
  • Craig    CS

Fiona Blacke, CEO of the National Youth Agency said, “Takeover Day is a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to young people.  In our organisation, young people are at the heart of all the work we do, and we would encourage everyone to embed participation of young people into their activity as widely as possible.”

Takeover Day is an initiative of the Children’s Commissioner and gives children and young people the chance to work with adults for the day and be involved in decision-making. Children benefit from the opportunity to experience the world of work and make their voices heard, while adults and organisations gain a fresh perspective on what they do.  Read more on Takeover Day.
