The JNC Employers’ Side has decided that it wishes to pursue and support the assimilation of Youth and Community staff to Local Government Service terms and conditions and withdrawal from national bargaining through the JNC.
The National Youth Agency has made a statement in response.
“NYA would like to emphasise that the recent announcement by the JNC Employers’ side does not in any way impact on the recognition of professional youth work qualifications. The sector’s recognition of NYA validated youth work courses is a benchmark demonstrating they are of the highest quality standards. This recognition remains an important indicator to all employers that the practitioner is experienced, skilled and prepared for the challenges of today’s youth work, and to the youth worker that the training they have undertaken is fit for purpose and of the highest quality.
“NYA will be taking soundings from members of the ETS committee on the potential impact of the announcement and will make further statements in due course.”
