Crowdburst 2018

NYA is proud and excited to have taken over 50 young people to meet government ministers, senior politicians and officials across Westminster and Whitehall as a part of the NYA crowdburst 2018.

On July 2nd, at the start of National Democracy Week, NYA Youth workers will accompanied over 50 young people from across the English regions as they engaged with senior politicians in Westminster and Whitehall to promote dialogue and a better understanding of what it means to be a young person in the modern world.

NYA recently called for a Youth Covenant. A promise from the nation for young people to be safe and secure in the modern world, treated fairly and supported in the present and future to follow their ambitions. This crowdburst event was a strong step towards achieving this.

Throughout the day the young people:

  • Had a tour of Parliament
  • Met cross-party MPs and Leader of the House of Commons
  • Met Ministers at their government departments (Education; Civil Society; Cabinet Office)
  • Met Shadow Cabinet Ministers
  • Met party leaders at their headquarters (Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrats)
  • Visited the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for England
  • Met the All-Party Group on Youth Affairs
  • Met the Women & Equalities select committee
  • Attended the launch of NYA’s newly redeveloped Hear by Right framework
  • Ended the day with a personal tour of No.10 Downing Street
