An Ode to Youth Workers by Lee Ritchie
As a youth worker of many years myself, I have spent the last 25+ years watching fellow youth workers work incredibly hard to make a positive difference to young people's lives. Times have been very tough over the last 15 years with cuts to both statutory and charity sector youth services. I've watched a lot of youth clubs close and a lot of youth workers leave the sector due to burn out and lack of jobs. Youth workers: I thought it was about time that someone told you how special you all are, and thanked you on behalf of society for the important work you do. Thank you! This poem is an ode to youth workers. From Lee
Celebrating Inclusion Youth Workers Supporting Young People at London Pride
Youth workers are often the bridge between young people and opportunities they might not
otherwise access. By organising trips to London Pride, they ensure that young people can
participate in a safe, inclusive environment. This includes preparing them for the day,
discussing what Pride represents, and ensuring safeguarding measures are in place
throughout the event.
