The National Youth Agency (NYA) is delighted to be running this year’s TCS London Marathon, thanks to the generosity of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). All funds raised will be directed towards the NYA’s work to enable youth workers to deliver safe and effective youth work and help young people to fulfil their potential.
Three NYA employees will take part in the iconic TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27th April. The day before on Saturday 26th April, three more colleagues or family members, along with their children, will join the TCS Mini London Marathon.
Ellie White, Academy Deputy Principal, Chris Milner, Research Associate, and Alia Pike, National Workforce Officer (ETS), will take on the 26.2-mile route which journeys though some of London’s most iconic landmarks and ends along the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.
Meanwhile, the Mini Marathon on Saturday offers a unique experience for children and young people to cross the official TCS London Marathon finish line and receive a coveted medal. The event encourages families, schools and charities to run, jog, walk, or wheel one mile or 2.6K in the heart of the capital.
Together, our runners are raising funds for the NYA and have set up a group fundraising page so that every mile completed supports the vital work of youth workers across the country.
Ellie White, NYA Academy Deputy Principal, said: “I have been a part of the NYA since 2021, and I am super excited to be running the London Marathon. It is a privilege to work alongside those who indirectly and directly support so many young people in all walks of life, and it will be a privilege to run and champion youth work. I normally run on trails, so I am sure the tarmac is going to be a shock!”
Chris Milner, NYA Research Associate explained: “I joined the NYA in 2023 to help evidence the impact of youth work and am delighted to be representing an organisation that has done so much for me as an employee, but also has such a positive impact on young people and youth workers. I’ve been running for years but this will be my first marathon, and I could not be more excited!”
Alia Pike, NYA National Workforce Officer (ETS) said: “This summer I celebrate 30 years of working with young people and the London Marathon will officially be my 29th marathon, but who is keeping count! I’m running for the National Youth Agency, a charity that I have known about since I studied youth work back in 2000 and have had the pleasure of working for since 2021.”
Matt Davis, NYA Director of Growth, said: “Thanks to the generosity of TCS every step taken by our colleagues will directly support youth workers and the young people they serve. The support from TCS has opened doors to incredible opportunities and this is a chance to shine a light on the achievements of our team.”
Amy Shocker, Head of CSR at TCS, said: “As the big day approaches, we’d like to wish the best of luck to all the NYA runners participating in the Marathon and the Mini Marathon event. The excitement is building, and we couldn’t be prouder of those taking on this incredible challenge. TCS is thrilled to collaborate with the NYA, recognising the vital role they play in empowering youth workers across the country, ultimately leading to better outcomes for young people.”
