💡Looking for ideas for your session plans?

These examples of actual practice have been provided to stimulate ideas when planning activities linked to the environment curriculum theme – you can use and adapt them to suit the young people you work with. 

Examples: 

💚 Eco – Volunteering:

Working with young people to develop participation in volunteering opportunities that address global issues that are of interest to them, this could be an animal park, environmental agency or further afield in another country.  


💙 Foraging both land and sea: 

Encouraging young people to become involved in the outdoors, learn about local ecology, and think about food choices and sustainability. Working in partnership with a specialist organisations to identify and collect different types of plants, learning about them and their benefits, cooking on a fire, and sampling. 


🪴 New ‘Youth Club’ building consultation:

Working with young people to create a vision for a new youth facility, working with architects to articulate their ideas, the spaces and ways to reduce their carbon footprint.  


🎶 Dance Academy:

Young people creating, rehearsing and performing a dance that highlighted the issues of plastic pollution in the ocean. Developing skills in recycling through set design, stage management, music, seating plans and lighting design.
