We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kerry Jenkins, a ferocious advocate for youth services and young people.

Kerry served on the National Youth Agency’s Education and Training and Standards committee for many years, ensuring the quality of training for those in the sector. She was committed to safeguarding professional youth work and actively participated in discussions about the need for a national register for youth workers.

Kerry was a passionate campaigner for young people, leading multiple initiatives to improve young lives in her role as a Labour councillor for Moseley ward, Birmingham. As the chair of Birmingham’s education and youth scrutiny committee, Kerry challenged proposed cuts to youth services and school transport.

Kerry will be sorely missed, and our heartfelt condolences go out to her loved ones during this difficult time.

-Leigh Middleton, CEO National Youth Agency
