Representatives from the National Youth Agency (NYA) are visiting Jersey this week to join in workshops and discussions on current developments in youth service work across the UK.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, Leigh Middleton and the Director of Youth Work, Abbee McLatchie will be in Jersey on Wednesday and Thursday this week to discuss youth service developments that influence the work of the Jersey Youth Service.
Principle Youth Officer, Mark Capern said: “We are honoured to be hosting this visit as it offers an exciting opportunity to discuss new initiatives and campaigns to support and transform the lives of young people across the UK and Channel Islands. I look forward to sharing our common drive to give young people the motivation and skills to learn and achieve. I’m sure these two days will be productive and inspirational as we look forward to the future of youth service work.”
On Thursday representatives from the UK, Guernsey and Jersey will consider the following items:
- Staff Development
- Youth Work curriculum development
- Quality Assurance, and standards
- Participation standards and young person voice
- Measuring outcomes of young people

The National Youth Agency is the national body for youth work in England who have worked with young people for over 50 years, the influence of their work stretches across the UK and internationally.
