Youth Work Insight – Learning from Youth Work in Faith Communities: Creating inclusive and empowering spaces for young people

Faith-based youth work has played an important role in the development of youth work in the UK and around the world. Many of the earliest forms of youth work began when faith communities responded to the needs of young people in their local areas. 

Compared to faith-based youth work, state-funded and other non-religious forms of youth work have a much shorter history. Over time, faith-based youth work has continued to grow and adapt, responding to the changing needs of young people. Today, it includes a wide range of approaches, activities and organisations that support young people’s learning, wellbeing, relationships and personal development.
