NYA Policy Influencing

As the national body for youth work in England, the National Youth Agency (NYA) delivers policy influencing, engagement, and events to strengthen the national voice of youth work, drive policy change, and ultimately enable great youth work to happen.

Picture caption: Deputy CEO of the NYA, youth worker and young people attend 10 Downing Street for a roundtable with the Prime Minister and Cabinet members as part of the national conversation on young people and social media.

The NYA’s Policy and Public Affairs Team monitors the national and local political landscape, aiming to promote and champion the NYA’s mission of enabling more people to deliver great youth work. As part of our policy influencing work, the Policy and Public Affairs Team contributes to national, Government-led consultations, parliamentary inquiries and independent calls for evidence, ensuring the voices of young people and youth workers inform key decision-making processes. We also engage with MPs and peers and host events that bring together members of the youth sector, young people, policymakers and stakeholders to share insights and drive forward collective action for youth work.

Across all of our policy influencing work, the NYA champions youth voice, promotes the need for a strong and skilled youth work workforce, and works to ensure that every young person has access to the opportunities, relationships and support they need to thrive.
